DBT of KC will help you find a life worth living.

We operate from the standpoint that DBT works best when all components of the treatment are offered as a package deal. So you can expect things to be done at DBT of KC in a way that’s true to the model. Some things are a little different about this particular type of therapy that often looks, feels, and takes place differently than other therapy models you might expect, or be used to. Each treatment session is completed with a specific hierarchy approach, each skills group has a specific order of business, each coaching call and consultation team meeting follow an agenda. With consistency and predictability, you begin to allow yourself the opportunity to challenge old patterns in thinking and behavior. As in all things DBT, there is a surprising amount of flexibility when you create structure in the basics. We’re happy to answer any questions you have about the model, but you can read a little bit more about the four things that make DBT of KC a team that practices the model true to form.

  • Individual Therapy

By committing to DBT program, you will be attending weekly individual sessions with your therapist. Sessions follow a structured hierarchy of content and focus which is unique to this treatment.

  • Skills Group

Participants are expected to attend a two-hour, weekly intensive skills group. Skills group is educational in nature, so not a typical processing group. Think classroom setting. Participation in discussion and completion of weekly homework assignments are expected in order to practice the skills learned in group.

  • Consultation Team

DBT Is unique in that you get the collaborative work of the entire team supporting your growth. Your individual and group DBT therapists meet weekly in order to obtain consultation, training, and help from other DBT of KC Clinicians in order to maintain the most effective frame of mind for this work with you.

  • Coaching Calls

After you have committed to the program, you will be given your individual therapist’s personal phone number to have access to skills coaching after hours and between sessions.
